Special Considerations
The AirB&B description says this house has seven bedrooms and eight beds. But one of those bedrooms is basically a closet that can only be accessed through another bedroom, so no privacy there. Another bedroom is off the game room, neither of which has a door, if I recall. And the two beds in there constitute a child’s bunkbed. So this house really has five bedrooms, one with two beds in it, for a reasonable max attendance of six people (if two want to share a room).
The gazebo is a pretty cool idea and quite large, so it can even be used in a rain shower. But the gas fire pit in its center is in disrepair and does not come with instructions. It’s unclear how to turn on the lights strung in the rafters. And the only outlet is about ten feet above your head. Oh, and the patio furniture in the gazebo hasn’t been taken care of. Usable, but not attractive.
The patio outside the sun room is a great place to stretch out and write as long as the local flying bugs cooperate.
The huge covered front porch is pretty great, even when it’s raining.
The description on the site says the neighborhood has seen better days, and that may be true, but it looked pretty idylic to me. On the business streets a few blocks over there are some closed businesses that show Richmond is having problems, but the house neighborhood looks and feels comfortable.
