Welcome to the web page for the Mid-World Arts Writers’ Group. Formerly the Indianapolis Writers’ Meetup, we’re a writing critique group dedicated to making the literary work of its members the best it can be. Mid-World Arts is focused on critiquing the writing of serious authors, writers who intend to submit their work to agents and publishers, or who plan to self-publish and wish their work to be as polished as possible.

Each week, we meet to critique two works submitted the week before. Most meetings at this time are held virtually on the Zoom video platform. Every fourth meeting is held in person at venues across the city.

We also maintain a pure writing time. Called WIP Wrangle and patterned after the popular Shut Up and Write concept, each Monday night we come together on Zoom for an hour and a half just to write. The writing can be anything, from responding to prompts, to working on your query letters, to plunging ahead in that novel you’re involved with. No requirement, WIP Wrangle is always open from 7:00PM - 8:30PM Mondays (Eastern) and all you have to do is log on and be committed to a solid period of writing. Come join us.

If you would like to join Mid-World Arts, email Stephan Loy at stephanloy@yahoo.com to announce your intention. If you email Steve, he’ll send you the group newsletter each week containing all the information you need. The button below for accessing Zoom meeting information is password protected. After you’ve established yourself, you’ll get the password to access the Zoom Meeting Links page. There’s also a great document under our Resources button (below), How Mid-World Arts Works, if you wonder what we look like in practice. Take a look at it and come join us. It’s worth it!
